In the past few years, I have been afforded the opportunity to become very involved in the accounting profession at the state and national levels. During this time, I have been fortunate to serve in key leadership roles with both the Texas Society of CPAs and the American Institute of CPAs that have given me insight into a wide variety of practice models used by CPA firms. I have established an independent CPA firm where I will have more flexibility in the range of financial services offered to clients.
Effective February 1, 2011, I have established Jerry Love, CPA, LLC that will strive to help my clients reach their financial goals and evaluate the various financial decisions that they face. My new firm seeks to provide cutting-edge planning strategies on a proactive basis.
In addition to offering the services to which you have been accustomed which includes:
* Tax return preparation for all type of federal and state filings including individuals, partnerships, corporations, sub-s corporations, trusts, estates, and gifts. Yes we absolutely are interested in and willing to prepare the small returns.
* Basic accounting services including preparation of payroll, preparation of payroll reports, preparation of accounts payable, processing for accounts receivables and a full line of bookkeeping services to record your transactions in the general ledger, reconcile your bank account and produce your financial statements.
* Consulting services in a wide variety of areas to assist you with developing budgets, strategic plans and helping you as a sounding board for management of your business or family finances.
* Auditing and Review services for financial statements that you have prepared when you require the independent assurance services of a CPA firm for those financial statements.
In addition, my new firm will be a financial advisory firm providing comprehensive financial planning services that delivers high quality financial planning advice with a full support system for implementation and technical expertise.
I define comprehensive financial planning as ?integrating all areas of a client?s finances so they are working together both efficiently and harmoniously, while at the same time taking their highest goals, passions and values into account.? This equates to helping you with all major aspects of your finances, whether they are in a business or personal setting.
My basic goal is to assist my clients in every aspect of their financial lives by providing the most personal service available. I will strive to help you create financial stability and security in order to reach financial independence. The primary focus for my clients is success through financial education. I will empower you with the knowledge to make intelligent choices regarding your individual financial situation. I will work with you to coordinate the activities of your investment, legal and insurance advisors to develop an overall integrated plan.
Another goal in the comprehensive financial planning is to have a notebook (whether physical or virtual) that contains all the pertinent financial information. The first and most important benefit of accumulating this information is to help you evaluate your current financial situation and to set goals for the future. The secondary benefit is to your family for such time that one of them may need this information.
Another influence that has helped me to develop my concept of this practice model has come from a situation this past year (2010) that my wife, Roz, experienced with her parents. Her mother suffered a stroke in February 2010 and has been in a nursing home since then. Roz has become very involved in all aspects of helping her Mom and Dad make this transition and to assist them in identifying and organizing all of their financial information and making changes when needed. Roz and I have seen first-hand the necessity for a family unit to identify a family member?s financial records and understand the various aspects related to his or her finances.
In order to implement this greater, personalized level of service to my clients, my travel schedule will be reduced considerably to allow me to be in Abilene much more than in recent years. My intent is to stay in Abilene at least 85% of the time. My departure from the prior firm will eliminate a great deal of my travel. Additionally, I have already completed some of my commitments on the national level. The timing could not be better for me to make this transition so that the primary focus of my time is meeting and communicating with clients. For each client that elects to adopt my comprehensive financial planning concept, I anticipate meeting with you personally a minimum of three times or more in the first year as we establish a plan for you. In subsequent years, we may schedule more frequent meetings, if needed.
Initially I am the sole owner of Jerry Love, CPA, LLC; however, several of the people you may have dealt with have joined me to this new firm. In addition, Roz will be assisting me as our office manager/receptionist/administrative assistant/delivery person (try putting that job title on her business card).
Concerning the cost for services, my first commitment to you is that your fees for compliance services that you have had in the past will remain similar to what you have paid in the past. I will discuss with you personally the need for and benefit of any additional services and related fees.
